About The People Behind The Sewing Geek

Here’s a lil rundown about the lovely humans behind The Sewing Geek.

Hi, we're self confessed sewing geeks.

I learned how to sew as a young child, but I did not have much time to sew while I was in college and completely immersed in my love for science. When I started sewing again, I quickly realized that I could apply my technical skills to pattern making. I fell in love with designing clothing and pattern drafting. I started selling my patterns in the summer of 2012 and have had a blast learning and drafting ever since. With each pattern I create I like to challenge myself with something new. I am also constantly thinking about how to improve my patterns to make the construction process easy and fun for my customers.

All of my patterns are computer drafted and have undergone thorough testing to ensure the utmost quality.

Each of my patterns contain:

  • Sizing charts to help you get the right fit
  • Clear instructions with pictures to help guide you
  • Short instructions on the pictures to help guide experienced sewists
  • A page of tips and tricks containing suggestions to make your project more successful
  • Where applicable, tips on adjusting the pattern for fit.
  • Clickable page numbers throughout to make navigating the instructions on your device easier.
  • Clear instructions on assembling the pattern pages
  • Imperial and Metric measurements.
  • Download as soon as you purchase.
  • Free upgrades for life! If I upgrade a pattern you have purchased, I will email you the updated copy for free with no work on your end.

If you have any questions, you can check out my FAQs below, or you can always contact me and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

You can peruse my digital sewing patterns, check out my “”how-to” tutorials, or drop me a line if you have any questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use a PDF sewing pattern?

Using digital sewing patterns is easy! You just print out the pattern using standard paper and a regular printer, tape the pages together and cut out the pattern! All of my patterns have instructions on how to do this and a diagram of how the pattern should look once the pages are taped together. You can print out the rest of the directions with the pattern or save paper and ink and just print the pattern and read the instructions from your computer

What size paper can I use?

My patterns will print on letter and A4 paper.

How can I pay?

I use PayPal as my payment processor, so I accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. Or, you can pay using your PayPal balance. You do not have to have a Paypal account to checkout with Paypal.

Is your site secure?

Yes. You pay through PayPal, the world’s premier electronic payment solution, not through this site. I never even see your credit card number. PayPal just tells me that you’ve paid, and I get your money through PayPal later.

Do I have to have a PayPal account to buy?

No, you can pay with your credit card without a PayPal account.

How do I download the pattern I purchased?

Once you click the checkout button in your cart, you will be directed to Paypal to complete payment. Once your payment is confirmed you will be redirected back to my site to a thank-you page where you can download your pattern(s). You will also receive an email containing your download link(s).

I can’t open my PDF file. What should I do?

To open a PDF file you need to have Adobe reader. This comes standard on many computers, but if you don’t have it you can download it free for your Mac or PC here. If you have adobe reader and are having issues opening the file contact me and I will get it straightened out for you.

Can I sell the items I make from your patterns?

Sure! I have an open use policy with all of my patterns. Make and sell as many items as you’d like! Just please do not share, copy, or sell the patterns/tutorials themselves. Links back to my website are greatly appreciated but not required.
